Overview

To close out their 2025 Concert Series, Prospero Arts and QPAC present Sweet Charity – a hopelessly romantic musical in concert.

Following her success as Jane Seymour in the hugely popular SIX the Musical, Loren Hunter will charm us all as Charity Hope Valentine – a hopelessly romantic dance hall hostess in New York City.

With a tuneful, groovy, mid-1960s score by Cy Coleman, and sparkling lyrics by Dorothy Fields, this hilarious story was written by Neil Simon and originally conceived and choreographed on Broadway by the legendary Bob Fosse.

The acclaimed Cameron Mitchell will capture all the energy, humour, and heartbreak of life in the Big Apple with his cutting-edge choreography and clever direction, as Sweet Charity ensures an unforgettable night of classic musical theatre.

Renowned Maestro, Michael Tyack, leads an onstage 16-piece band, featuring big favourites like “Big Spender”, “If My Friends Could See Me Now”, and “Rhythm of Life”, performed by some of the best triple threats in the country.

  • A hit-packed score by Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields, and a joke-packed book by Neil Simon.
    The New York Times
  • Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields’ terrific songs ... have snappy wit, a big heart and just the right sprinkling of sentimentality, socked across by a muscular orchestra.
    Variety
  • A hymn to female resilience ... There is something cheering about the cockeyed optimism of Charity, who seeks to escape her grim life as a New York taxi dancer where all you do is ‘defend yourself to music,’ and Coleman’s score brims with good tunes.
