Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy. The foundations laid by these ancestors give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations, both First Nations and non-First Nations peoples, towards creating a better Queensland.

A partnership bringing a sense of belonging

Fri 11 Apr 2025

A commitment to creating a sense of belonging is something that strongly connects QPAC and Energex (part of Energy Queensland).

At QPAC we’re all about bringing people together to enjoy remarkable arts experiences and fostering a sense of inclusiveness and belonging by making QPAC as accessible as possible through our programming and public engagement activities.

At Energy Queensland, a key value under the banner of its internal culture focus is ‘We Belong’ – a driving force that furthers the company’s commitment to embracing diversity, empowering all to excel and uniting to become stronger together. This respect for the very human need to connect and belong is at the foundation of much of QPAC’s programming, in particular its annual First Nations festival, Clancestry. A celebration of First Nations arts and culture, at its core Clancestry is about sharing stories, truth-telling and connection.

Clancestry showcases First Nations artists – new, emerging, and established – and aims to provide a platform to elevate First Nations voices promoting empathy and understanding. We are always looking for partners who share our values and with the potential to enable even more programming in this space.

Energy Queensland is already committed to reconciliation in its own business by building strong connections and learning from First Nations cultures. Centering on the aspirations of First Nations communities, and working together to safely deliver secure, affordable, and sustainable energy solutions, a partnership with QPAC for Clancestry seemed a natural next step.

QPAC is pleased to welcome Energex back as the Supporting Partner of Clancestry in 2025.

Todd Reynolds, Energy Queensland Executive General Manager and Executive Sponsor of Energy Queensland’s Reconciliation Action Plan, highlighted the company’s deep commitment to connectivity, innovation and sustainability.

“As a business, our values align perfectly with QPAC’s forward-facing creativity and ambitious cross-discipline work,” he said.

“Energy Queensland has a long history of supporting the arts in Queensland from sponsoring events and art festivals at a grassroots level to supporting the roll-out of larger theatrical productions.

“As a business we also sponsor the creative arts through our partnerships with Queensland Theatre, Queensland Ballet, Australasian Dance Collective, and many local community theatres.”

“Our long-term partnerships with the creative arts bring together a powerful combination of learning and innovation. We recognise the importance of theatre to sharing First Nations stories and culture – stories that provide reconnection to culture, history and identity”.

We are proud to deliver this year’s Clancestry program thanks to the generous support of Energex.
