Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy. The foundations laid by these ancestors give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations, both First Nations and non-First Nations peoples, towards creating a better Queensland.

Aria | Fish Lane

Mon 24 Oct 2022

One generally doesn’t get to choose who ends up moving into your neighborhood – which is sometimes good, sometimes not so great.

So, when development began to happen around the QPAC neighborhood some years ago, we were quietly crossing our fingers wondering who our next-door neighbors would turn out to be. Imagine our delight when it turned out to be Brisbane developers Aria, not only significantly improving our little neck of the woods visually but also sharing our commitment to supporting and nurturing the arts in Queensland!

It certainly felt like a natural fit that a born and bred South Brisbane company significantly invested in the arts would come on board as a major partner with QPAC. We share passions, values, a commitment to excellence and even share patrons now. It’s not uncommon to see a flock of QPAC patrons doing the mad dash across the road to a show having lost themselves in the delights of Aria’s Fish Lane for a pre-show bite to eat and drink.

Situated diagonally across from QPAC, Aria’s remarkable development of Fish Lane stretches all the way from Grey St down to West End and has changed the face of a long-forgotten part of South Brisbane into a bustling arts, lifestyle and dining precinct. Not content to just beautify the area, Aria (via the Fish Lane Arts Precinct) has been actively supporting the arts for many years.

Aria’s Commercial Manager Michael Zaicek said the company had commissioned over 40 public art works, hosted scores of events and was consciously an active participant in Brisbane’s arts scene.

“Over the years, our collaboration partners have included Metro Arts, Griffith Art School, Brisbane Museum, Brisbane Street Art Festival, Camerata, Box Copy, Blaklash and Gallery of Children's Art,” he said.

“We deeply value the role the Arts play in our city. Central to every Aria development is the goal of creating great outcomes for the community and working with Precinct partners is an obvious way to make a positive contribution.”

“We’re proud to partner with a great Queensland institution such as QPAC. Aria is committed to creating Australia’s premier dining and arts precinct in Fish Lane and creating special memories for QPAC patrons.”

Needless to say, neither of us are going anywhere fast and we look forward to many years ahead of neighborhood friendship and continuing to nurture and support the arts together.
